Amy Michel, Ph.D.
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

About Me
Upon completing my clinical training in Minnesota, I lived and worked as a registered psychologist and clinical supervisor in Australia. Sydney’s richly diverse culture gave me the privilege of doing therapy with individuals from an incredible array of backgrounds and traditions.
Over the past decades, I have focused on providing therapy to adult individuals in Oregon. My approach is grounded in systemic theory, which emphasizes the impact of relationships, culture, and societal factors on personal challenges. I specialize in helping clients navigate significant life changes, manage anxiety and depression, improve interpersonal relationships, recover from trauma, and address multicultural issues such as adoption, bi-racial identity, international relocation, and intercultural dynamics.
With your informed consent, I coordinate care with other local health professionals to provide comprehensive integrated treatment.
I am committed to ongoing professional development and education. Recent continuing education includes training in the provision of online therapy, anxiety disorder treatment, the aging brain, suicide assessment and prevention, anger management, motivational interviewing, cultural competency, EMDR and trauma processing, implicit bias in healthcare, and professional ethics.
